Burgess Falls State Natural Area near Sparta, Tennessee
Just a short walk from the middle falls brings you to the big falls. There is a large overlook platform from which to view the falls. The entire hike from parking lot to the big falls is not very long; it’s more scenic than strenuous, despite the fact that it is mostly uphill.

The big falls plunge basin is very large and would be quite a scenic view in itself,

if it weren't for that magnificent waterfall that is there to draw your attention.

The big Burgess Falls are 130 feet high – a great sight during high water times of the year. There is a stairway down to the base, which I have yet to take. It’s

a long way down, and I understand that coming back up can be a challenge.
